Takapuna

Takapuna was initially developed as a holiday destination with small Bach-like homes focused on the stunning 1.2 km beach. The area developed quickly after the opening of the Auckland Harbour Bridge and today it is a highly desirable suburb to live. The beach is a great place to swim, sail, walk and people watch. And if you want to, you can walk the whole Eastern Coastline at low tide. Both a shopping mall and high street shopping are available in Takapuna including The Department Store on Northcroft Street.

Two supermarkets are within a couple of minute’s drive of the main centre. And the Sunday Markets offer a selection of well priced goods as well as a morning's entertainment. A bus station serves all areas and the Northern Expressway provides express links south to Auckland’s CBD and to destinations further north. Takapuna has a busy restaurant and bar life, offering a wide range of cuisine including the newly opened McKenzie’s complex. Just stroll down Hurstmere Rd and the choice is yours.

The Takapuna Beach Cafe is a delightful place to stop and enjoy the location, excellent food, award wining Gelato and service.
